EV charging installed around your electrical system.

A home charger is a dedicated high-draw circuit that will run for hours at a time, most nights, for years. It deserves a load calculation, a properly sized conductor, and a mounting location chosen for the cable you actually have.

The Install

Three things decide the price.

Not brand and not brochure copy — these are the variables that actually move an EV charger quote.

01

Available capacity

What the service can carry after existing loads. This decides whether you get a 40A, 48A, or load-managed circuit — or whether a panel upgrade belongs in the conversation first.

02

Run length and path

Distance from the panel to the parking spot, and whether the route is an open attic, a finished wall, a garage ceiling, or an exterior wall requiring weather-rated conduit.

03

Equipment and mounting

Hardwired versus receptacle, indoor or outdoor rating, cable length against where the vehicle port sits, and the disconnect requirements that follow.

Scope

What we take care of.

  • Load calculation against the existing service before anything is ordered
  • Dedicated circuit sized to the charger and the run length
  • Neat conduit routing with fasteners and penetrations sealed properly
  • Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 installation, whichever suits the equipment
  • Permit and inspection where the jurisdiction requires it
  • Charger commissioning, app pairing, and a first test charge before we leave
  • Load-management devices when capacity is tight and a service change is not warranted
Bring the equipment or let us specify it. Customer-supplied chargers are welcome — plenty of people buy with the vehicle or take a utility rebate that names a model. If the unit is not yet purchased, we will tell you what the panel can support before you spend money on something it cannot.

Adding solar to the same property? Charging schedules, production, and panel capacity interact more than most people expect. The Solar Maintenance Division can review the array side while the charger circuit is being planned.

Questions

EV charging questions.

Do I need a panel upgrade for a charger?

Often no. A load calculation tells us what is left after the existing loads, and a load-management device can frequently make a charger work on an existing service. When an upgrade genuinely is required, we show you the calculation that says so.

Receptacle or hardwired?

Hardwired supports higher continuous current, is required outdoors in some situations, and removes the plug as a failure point. A NEMA 14-50 receptacle is more flexible if you expect to move or replace the unit. We will make a recommendation based on your charger and location.

Can you install a second charger later?

Yes, and it is worth mentioning at the first visit. Two vehicles usually means load management or a subpanel, and it is far cheaper to plan the conduit path once.

How long does it take?

Most straightforward garage installs are completed in a single visit. Long runs, finished-wall routing, or a paired panel upgrade extend that, and the estimate says which case yours is.

Getting an EV soon?

Tell us the vehicle, the panel, and where the car parks — that is enough for a real number.
